From Perth, Australia, Paranoias are Hannah, Chris, Ben, and Alex. The band has been kicking around the Aussie punk scene for a few years and has finally unleashed a proper debut album. I would describe this band's sound as straight-up punk rock. Influences ranging from '70s punk to early hardcore to surf punk to modern-day garage punk are palpable, but it all comes out sounding like no other band. Lead singer Hannah makes a powerful impression with her snotty, high-pitched vocals. The songs are dizzying and frenetic yet far from generic. From the band name to the cover art to the album title, everything about this release feels chillingly current. If this is the soundtrack to the apocalypse, at least we're going out dancing.
