Patrol - self titled EP
I must admit I was a little skeptical about the idea of Barcelona's Patrol. How is it humanly possible to combine riff-driven heavy rock with scuzzy modern-day budget punk and have it all come together in a way that works? Well I may be a skeptic, but I'm also open-minded enough to listen. And once I lent Patrol's self-titled debut EP my ears, I was all-in. If you're going to marry heavy metal to punk rock, this is how you do it: with blazing riffs & leads, a blistering pace, and a surprisingly melodic approach to songwriting. Out now on 7" on Drunken Sailor Records, this EP belongs to that category of music that should only be enjoyed at ear-bursting volumes. Sometimes you have these bands that are too rock for the punk crowd and too punk for the rock crowd. But that's not the case with Patrol. Anyone who likes loud, aggressive rock 'n' roll with hooks ought to dig this noise in a big way. Red vinyl is sold out. Get the black while you can!

Featuring two members of the French band Les Lullies, and I can really hear similarities on a couple of songs.
