Back with their first new material since 2007, Milwaukee, Wisconsin's Chinese Telephones are in top form on their new EP Outta My Hands. These four songs live at the intersection of punk rock and power pop: always a sweet spot for me and many of you reading this right now. Lead track "Radianna" is vintage ChiTels poppy punk — a punchy and super-catchy tune with hooks for days. "Come and See Me" finds the band sliding fully into power pop territory in a most successful way. "Tamping Down My Soul" has a bit of a Marked Men feel to it, and I'm not complaining. "Loyola" is a killer rendition of The Dictators' classic. It couldn't have been easy for Justin and company to revive this band after a decade and a half, yet Outta My Hands absolutely recaptures the old magic and then some. If you like pop and punk but don't necessarily identify as a fan of pop-punk, you would be well-served to check this EP out. All the players — Justin Telephone, Daniel James, Andy Junk, and Logan Stang — totally rock it out. And with Amos Pitsch recording and mixing these songs, it's no shocker that Outta My Hands sounds like a million bucks. Dead Broke Rekerds and Bloated Kat Records have teamed up to release the vinyl — which is limited to 200 copies on black and 100 on pink. This one is not to be missed!
